On Wednesday, March 21st, Senator Toni Atkins was sworn in as the new President Pro Tem of the State Senate.
While many legislators seem to ignore the real life impacts of workplace injury, Senator Atkins brings a unique set of life experiences to her position of power.
Toni Atkins is a coal miner's daughter. As a girl she grew up without indoor plumbing, and she could not afford to see a dentist until age 24.
Senator Atkins has attended our CAAA Conventions and has always had an open door for us.
We congratulate her. And we celebrate what her leadership can mean to the women and men who do the hardest and most dangerous jobs.
