Since becoming Governor, Gavin Newsom has used his power to appoint extraordinary people to the highest offices.
First, the Governor appointed then-Secretary of State, Alex Padilla to the United States Senate. The first Latino to ever represent California.
Then, Governor Newsom appointed Dr. Shirley Weber to become the first Black woman to serve as Secretary of State, California’s chief elections officer.
And when Attorney General Xavier Becerra joined President Biden’s Cabinet, Governor Newsom appointed former Assemblyman Rob Bonta to be the first Asian Pacific Islander to become Attorney General.
Last week, Governor Newsom did it again!
The Governor nominated Patricia Guerrero to become the first Latina on the State Supreme Court.
These appointments change California...for the better.
